i play guitar. but i have to get a peda soon because me ad my band will be coming out with an album soon. what pedal can i get at a cheap price and is still a respectable pedal? i need one where i can step down for effect and then step off of the pedal to go back into normal. please help quick!

Dude, what a strange question. Your band has an album coming out,,, so you need a pedal? That doesn't make any sense.
You should buy a pedal because you're interested in increasing the sonic capabilities of your axe….
You have to decide what sound you want. There's distortion pedals, wah-wahs, chorus, flanger, delays…and every single one of them you can step down for effect and then step off of the pedal to go back to normal.
what kind of effect? If your looking for a good pedal though boss make the best, and they come with a 5 year warranty, and there reasonably priced.
It depends on what kind of sound you're going for. A sustainer? A wah pedal? Flanger? Phaser? Distortion? Chorus? Pitch shifter? Delay? Tremolo? As you can see, there's a whole spectrum of different pedals and the noises they make. Yeah, it would be costly to get them all, so maybe try getting a digitech multi-effect processor which lets you choose from all sorts of different noises and even has a wah pedal built in. It's overwhelming how many different kinds of pedals there are.
